What is Satellite Restriction Tracker?

SRT is a program designed for reading bandwidth usage data from WildBlue, Exede, and other ViaSat ISPs. It is not created by or endorsed by ViaSat or any subsidiary company.

What happened to WildBlue Bandwidth Monitor?

A ViaSat employee asked me to change the name of the program due to confusion about the author. I figured Satellite Restriction Tracker was a more ambiguous name, and it doesn't infringe on any trademarks.

How much does the program cost?

Satellite Restriction Tracker is free software. It does not cost anything to use on your home or business computer.

I'm confused about entering my account information.

To get started with Satellite Restriction Tracker, you need to know your ViaSat account Username, Password, and Provider. Your provider is the website you use to check your usage - if you use Exede, choose ""; if you use DishNet, choose ""; if you use something else, chances are it's in the Domain dropdown in the configuration, but if it isn't you can always enter it yourself and it will be added. If you don't know your provider website, ask your provider how to check your usage and the URL they give you will tell you. Your Username and Password are the same as you use to log in to your provider website as described above. If you use an E-Mail address as your username, enter the whole E-Mail address. If all you have is an address like, use JoeSmith as your Username and as your Provider.

Why does Wildblue/Exede say they have never heard of Satellite Restriction Tracker?

Probably because they haven't. Very few ViaSat employees know about this program, and the information it collects is not accepted by Tech Support when reporting usage errors, despite the fact the data comes directly from their website.

What Operating Systems does Satellite Restriction Tracker support?

Currently, versions are available for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10, as well as both KDE and Gnome based Linux distros, and macOS. Mobile Operating System support is being pondered.

Satellite Restriction Tracker says my Operating System is too old or that it doesn't support TLS. What do I do?

If your provider requires a TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 connection and you're using Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, or macOS, you will need to use the TLS Proxy feature which was implemented in v1.3.6. You can enable the TLS Proxy in the Network tab of your Configuration.

I have a problem with my copy of Satellite Restriction Tracker. How can I erase my settings and DataBase?

The DataBase is stored in a custom directory which is set in the Configuration window. The settings are stored in your user account's Application Data folder, which varies depending on your Operating System:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\RealityRipple Software\Satellite Restriction Tracker\

Windows Vista/7/8/10:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\RealityRipple Software\Satellite Restriction Tracker\

~/.config/RealityRipple Software/Satellite Restriction Tracker/

~/Library/Application Support/RealityRipple Software/Satellite Restriction Tracker/

Note that the "AppData" or ".config" folder is usually Hidden by the Operating System. The user.config file in the Application Data folder stores all settings and account information.

To clear your DataBase in case of major failures, close the program, delete the History-[ACCOUNT].wb file, then open SRT and hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard while you click the Refresh button. This will erase all usage history and clear up possible errors. If you want to try to recover the information, you can instead move the History-[ACCOUNT].wb file to another directory and attempt to import the data through the History window.

My computer can't stay online all night. How can I know what my usage is doing then?

RealityRipple Software now provides a Remote Usage service for Satellite Restriction Tracker which grabs and stores your data remotely for you. You can find more information at the Remote Usage Service Signup page.

I signed up for the Remote Usage Service but I didn't get my Product Key. Where can I find it?

The first place to check is the Junk or Spam folder of your E-Mail account. If you can't find it there, you can get it sent to you again by visiting the Product Key Retrieval form.

My usage isn't updating! What do I do?

If your usage has not updated in the last couple hours, the official meter may be down. If the last check time has a flashing exclamation point (!) next to it, you can hover over it for details on the failure. Most problems will be automatically detected by the software and reported back to our servers for analysis. Check for new updates and BETA versions regularly to keep up with the latest changes.

The latest version has a problem. Can I go back to an older version?

Due to the nature of Satellite Restriction Tracker, using any version other than the latest release or BETA versions is strongly discouraged. If the issue is with a BETA version, you can download the latest release from the main page and install it over the BETA version with no ill effects, just remember to turn off BETA update checks in the Configuration. Also, please notify me immediately if you run into an issue, either through a comment or by E-Mail.

I don't like the graph colors.

You can customize the colors of your usage, history, and tray icon graphs by right clicking the usage graph on the Main window and choosing "Customize Colors".
